We aren't often satisfied with what we write, and we would like to improve our writing skills, whether it's an email to a faraway friend or a short story. Even if talent is something we can't learn, it's possible to enhance our style through simple expedients.

The first challenge of a writer is to become a good searcher of ideas, a real hound for inspiration.
